"We Suffer Not From The
Events In Our Lives,
But From Our
Judgment about them"
A Stoic (Epictetus)
Before we get started let's set the mood right which means read-only with an open mind...and a lot of time...
I have been Working on this one from my last week's blog as
being said previously as a procrastinator I have always worked
on quality over quantity, as this subject itself is a very popular and
strong philosophy in ancient greeks which have been practiced for long
Centuries...Some Eminent Practitioner of this philosophy are :
- Nelson Mandela
- Mahatma Gandhi
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- George Washington
- Of Course My Man Spider-Man
So let me break it down the things I m gonna talk about in
this blog:
- What is the philosophy behind stoicism?
- Virtues and Stoicism in Real life
- As, Promised Unleash Who is Mr.Rock?
And When I talk about these points doesn't mean something that's easy
to find on the internet...means, of course, you can but I would like
to share my personal perspectives and experience on this philosophy. I
am a consistent practitioner of this philosophy from my later
childhood(High School). So here is the story of how I came to know
about stoicism...
Until few years ago I didn't know about this philosophy that I have
been following from years. I just came to know about when in my final
year I was searching on the net about some self-discipline related
stuff and walla...Boom...Remember in my previous blog I told about
frequency and resonance well it also works for universal
knowledge...after all, we all are related to evolution somehow or the
other...So hold it tight and sit back and relax...without wasting any
further time.
What is Stoicism?
Stoicism if explained in a lay man's word is:"Give No F***K Policy...for the ones who are worried by others opinion, that means ignore the noise and focus only on things that are in
one's control that means you can't control other peoples mind of
what they think...how they think...that is based on their past
experiences or their knowledge(which may be limited or
unexploratory)...that's the tough aspect of Stoicism...Stoicism also
has a sweet spot...that says do good to others even if they do wrong to you...the
saint ones. The logical aspect of stoicism involves
self-control accepting the truth for one's growth and improving
continuously even it means steady growth no one in a rush does it
with a quality or don't do it at all."...the smart ones. That's in general my definition of
stoicism...
Now, talking about "Virtues" of stoicism...which is also known as 4
pillars of stoicism that are:
#Wisdom
So, Wisdom for me is like preparing black tea that bursts with time
when boiling inside the water and tea leaves are like knowledge...and
water is this world in which we live and events or situations are like
a gas stove that makes it happen and our mind is a container in which
everything happens .so everything here is the part of the process. But
indeed u can control the equipment but yet can't control the process.
As discussed earlier that only focus on things that are under your
control rather than focusing on things that don't matter ...now,
talking about the real human is a social animal...he can live alone
but choose not to from centuries humans have lived in groups, pack
known as a society which symbolizes survival, security, affection, and
love which keeps them fed, informed and entertained...which is the
best thing or in a case a blessing when you have a tremendously great
and remarkable "Spiritual Father" which leads the group. But as
evolution take place so does society is evolved and evolution honestly
has not been fairer to each and everyone which has resulted in an
increase in insecurities, greed, jealousy, and nonuniformity of
transfer of knowledge and intelligence and hence results in lots of
menace and problem among fellow human being...so one should not stop
seeking knowledge and wisdom in whichever form one can get ...that in
turn helps to create balance among the society and upgrade oneself.
Remember, words are of no use if not put to action ...so ,just seeking
knowledge is not enough if not executed remember black tea is only
made when tea leaves are burst, if tea leaves doesn't burst they just
settle down ... also every process requires a catalyst here
temperature act as a catalyst.
to quote Robert Lolyd:
"Slow and Steady Wins The Race".
My Personal advice on wisdom will be ... never
use your emotion to
reach conclusion...dumb people rely on gossips...smart ones rely on
wisdom...that's separates beings

Moving to the Second pillar...
#Temperance
Temperance in simple words means self-control which in term leads to stay
away from distraction ...also one way of handling distraction can be getting
satisfaction in what you do ... which means finding areas that can get you
to succeed rapidly as others...which in turn leads to saying that do less to
achieve more ... channelizing our energies on a few aspects which can yield
us more growth...in less time than the ones which give less growth in more
time. Temperance is difficult in practice but if done consistently can turn
out to be most effective...also it states that multitasking is a myth or
supernatural and it might not be common and effective for the majority of
us. It also helps one discover their
ikigai. Temperance is the virtue due to which I discovered Stoicism...well will
talk more about it in my next blog. Quoting My Favourite Man...

Moving to the third pillar...
Yes, it means the exact thing that you think but context might be
different ... it's not just about having the balls...bcoz that even the
oppressors does but of no use to mankind...rather it means standing alone
for what one believes and perceive...rather than getting manipulated by
ones want or desires. Therefore, A great man once said:
"Stand For what you believe, rather than what you seek..."
Courage helps one in their journey.so courageous are not the one that
has power but are the ones who can make or thrive on their own even if
it means walking alone.

Moving on to last but the most important one ...
#Justice
It is one of the most important pillars of stoicism. Stoics can't be
completed without justice. Stating Marcus Arelius one of the vivid practitioners of stoicism in
history :
"What good is your wisdom if it is of no use to others...
"
well, you don't have to do superhero stuff but at least try
affecting, changing, and touching the lives of your first ones or the
ones second close to you without any returns...you might know or
increase your worth not in their eyes but in your own. Justice Motivates a stoic to do a common good considering what you were born for.we are not born for ourselves alone, inculcating the values of good faith and truth.
Justice means to honor equality, even if it means doing the
righteous thing to the one who
does wrong to you...
Stating Moula Ali A.S.:
"Ahsin ila min asa ilayk".
As I said earlier never let your emotions or people
outrun your intelligence even if it means to be
stone-hearted...sometimes because it hurts less. Therefore
Again a great man once said:
"Cheers to those who follow the good,
rather than the bad...Whatever It Takes!!!"
Who Mr.Rock is...?
Mr.Rock is a stoic and an idealistic friend of mine from
childhood that is a repository of wisdom and a supporter
...that Activates when I go down...Because I m the
Imaan(Believer of Faith) guy...not a stoic guy. 😉
Important principle:
There is always room for 100% improvement.
Stoicism is a philosophy based on assumption that no one is perfect
and will never be...but the rigorous and consistent pursuit of improvement for oneself and the surrounding ecosystem is what makes a stoic a better human
being.
And also:
"you are the owner of your own game never do ever let others
define the rule for you."
and the same thing can be said for places, people and
things.😉
